WHAT WE DO
Bucks Uniformed Youth [BUY] is an ‘umbrella’ charity open to all uniformed youth
organisations operating in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes who can apply to
join it for the mutual benefit of all. Currently it has 17 such Member Organisations
besides Supporters who play an important role in its continuing development. BUY
also works collaboratively with other local ‘umbrella’ youth charities and is itself a
member of Community Action Bucks.
As part of its commitment to its Member Organisations BUY has a Finance &
Fundraising Group who continually seek finance in order that grants can then be
made to them in their work. The Treasurer leads the Group and has details on
request.

Another service provided is the loan of BUY minibuses to its Member Organisations enabling smaller local ‘units’ to attend events that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to. This provision is co-ordinated by the Transport Group led by the Transport Officer who has all the information concerning it.

BUY is also engaged in young offender rehabilitation principally focussed through
the continuing practical initiative of its Chair.
Communication is vital for all organisations and BUY achieves this through its
Communications Group led by the Communications Officer who is keen to help all its
Member Organisations in this field if they contact her.
Finally, BUY enjoys unstinting support from other charities and bodies, etc., which it
can share the benefit of across all of its Member Organisations especially in facing
and dealing with the effects of COVID-19 and its aftermath particularly mental health.
